COURSE SYLLABUS
1. history of yin yoga

Learn the ancient origins of Yin Yoga as well as the modern exponents of this wonderful practice which is designed to help you release tension, sit longer, feel more comfortable within your own skin, and basically stretch all the connective tissues around the joints (whole spine, pelvis, knees as well as sacrum) and areas of the body which usually hold pent up tension as well as when not adequately activated loose their flexibility and elasticity.
Ancient origins date back from Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita, and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and they give the outline as well as the ground work for the practitioner to use them as preparations to go into deep meditational practices.

Yin Yoga's essence is thouroughly linked with Sthiram Sukham Asanam, the practice of asanas were posture is comfortable and steady so that the mind can focus completely, without any distractions in the physical body and without the flickering thoughts on the mind so that meditation can arise. 

In the Modern Origins of Yin Yoga we will take a close look at the main modern exponents of this wonderful practice and their influence in the practice of Yin to mention a few  Paul Grilley, Sara Powers, Bernie Clack and Biff Mithoefer, among others.

5. YIN philosophy 
The Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali are 196 Indian sūtras (aphorisms) that constitute the foundational text of Rāja yoga. The sutras spell out how the mind works and how is it possible to use the mind to attain liberation.  It is a roadmap of human consciousness.  It expresses the truth of human condition:  how we know what we know, why we suffer, and how can we discover the way out of suffering.  

The student is introduced to the elements of his mind, to the concept of discipline and disciple as well as Abhyasa (constant inner practice) and Vairagyam (desirelessness) as foundation to enter into the Ashtanga Yoga or steps to tame one's mind and  work towards Samadhi (Liberation). ​

 Pre-requisites for this program:  No pre-requisites, however it is advisable to have undergone at least 3-4 months of regular yoga practice.  Students who have previous TTC's will benefit and expand their knowledge in this thorough program.

DAY 1 4.30-6.30 Evening Practice & Welcome
DAY 2-9 - Full Schedule

7-9 am:  Morning Practice
9-10:30 am: Breakfast Break
10:30 - 11 am:  Meredians Theory
11-12:30 m:  Yin Theory & Practice
12:30 - 2pm:  Lunch Break
2:30 - 4:30pm: Study Break
4:30 - 6 pm:  Yin Philosophy & Anatomy
6 - 7 pm: Evening Meditation
CLOSING DAY 
7-9 am:  Optional Morning Practice 
6- 7:30 pm:  Closing Ceremony
Saturdays & Sundays - Days off

Arrival Information

  • On January 23, 2019 Kindly Check in from 9 am -12.30 
  • You can opt to have lunch at the café from 12:30-1.30 pm
  • Be ready to come to the school in comfortable yin yoga clothing and bring your mat at 4:15 pm.

Departure Information

  • Check out is at 10 am on Feb. 1st.​ 2019.  If you need to leave on Jan. 31st, make sure you travel no earlier than 8:00 pm.

Connect with your Yin Force - the force of creativity and source of stillness.  

In this program you will focus on deep stretch and breathing through yin yoga practices, targeting your mental, physical and emotional concerns.  We focus con the basic principles of yin Stillness, Finding one's edge and holding the postures as well as learning to blend traditional hatha yoga with Chinese taoist philosophy.
