Restorative Yoga is a yoga practice that can be used at any stage of life.  Particularly beneficial on a one-on-one basis as well as a group class.  When deep relaxation and stretching postures are combined with sound or the path of nada yoga, they create a deep opening for healing different aspects of one's life.  This may manifest as better sleep, conscious eating, better digestion, and even the outlook we have in life .

Nada Yoga or the path of south as well as Restorative yoga are wonderful therapeutic tools, for both men and women alike.

This powerful combination known as Abhijna Restorative & Nada Yoga was developed in 2012 when the sound healing center at Abhijna School of Yoga was founded as a way to help yoga students and people from the local community work with vibration as a different way to experience any challenges in life.
COURSE SYLLABUS
1. history of RESTORATIVE YOGA
Picture
Restorative Yoga from the 1940's when B.K.S. Iyengar learned Tl Krishnamacharya. Iyengar as a teenager suffered several health issues and the guidance of Krishnamacharya helped him regain his health and vitality.

Later in his life, Iyengar felt the strong need to find poses that could help his students both locals and westerners to use yoga postures from a therapeutical perspective, thus preventing strain, injury or pain.  Gheeta Iyengar continued his father's legacy when she started using restorative postures especially for women while undergoing their moon cycle or to help regulate it.

Restorative yoga is  a relaxing, receptive practice, quiet type of practice where poses are held from 5 to even 20 minutes.  They help us still the mind and body system thus supporting their healing processes.
2. HISTORY OF NADA YOGA

Nada Yoga or the Yoga of Sound is one of the most profound methods for healing since ancient times. In the path of nada yoga, sounds composed of all elements (space, air, fire, water and earth) are brought together to create a unique experience to the patient, brining a harmonic essence and creating a state of Theta brain wave activity inducing harmonic overtones of healing instruments while on a conscious state.

Sound is a waveform which moves through and penetrates matter therefore it is not just what we can hear. Sound actually causes cells and tissues to vibrate and change their energetic frequency. This is the reason why it has the potential to alter every dimension of our being.   When nada yoga is combined with restorative yoga practices their effects are manifold.
