What is Sound Healing?
It is a powerful healing method where vibrational frequencies produced by different instruments are applied to our body-mind system. They help create a state of harmony and balance conducive to healing. Sessions can be given to people of all ages.
A healing session changes from one individual to another and therefore several instruments are used such as Crystal and Tibetan Singin Bowls, Pulse Tubes, Bells, Tuning Forks, Gongs, Kalimbas and String Instruments. Musical therapy begins when sound becomes the language between the interpreters (music therapists) and the receiver(s). This experience is a journey through sound environments where a relaxed space is created to boost a sensory experience which is performed with wide range of instruments. Sound Therapy and Sound Healing Techniques are helpful in reducing levels of stress, anxiety, insomnia, inability to focus, to let go, and many emotional issues. Sound healing in yoga is known as the path of "Nada Yoga", which is one of the most profound methods for healing since ancient times. In the path of nada yoga, sounds composed of all elements (space, air, fire, water and earth) are brought together to create a unique experience to the patient, brining a harmonic essence and creating a state of Theta brain wave activity inducing harmonic overtones of healing instruments while on a conscious state. Nada in sanskrit refers to sound, thunder, roar, howl or cry, it also means river or stream. The stream of sound or the inner sound stream.
"One who desires true union of yoga should leave all thinking behind and concentrate with single-pointed attention on the Nada" - Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
